SERVE SUNDAY | Sometimes You Have to Serve Yourself, Too
We often think of service as what we do for others showing up, helping, listening, encouraging, supporting, leading, and pouring into the people around us.
But service also means knowing when you need to stop, reset, and regroup.
And that’s okay.
Sometimes we become so focused on being there for everyone else that we forget to check our own cup. You can’t keep pouring into everyone else without taking time to refill your own cup.
And this applies to all of our “ships”-friendships, relationships, situationships, partnerships, family connections, professional relationships, and even the relationship we have with ourselves.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for a “ship” is recognize when you need a moment to reset so you can return with more clarity, patience, purpose, and intention.
Taking a moment doesn’t mean you don’t care.
Regrouping doesn’t mean you’re giving up.
Resting doesn’t mean you’ve stopped serving.
Sometimes resetting IS part of the service.
So on this Serve Sunday, I want to leave you with a question:
How are you serving yourself so that you can continue being of service to others?
Whatever your answer is, remember: it’s okay to stop, breathe, regroup, refill your cup, and begin again.
💛 Take care of the cup you’re pouring from.
